The ACRTC-2 Board

The following short programs are written in 'C' and illustrate some of the hardware accelerated drawing capabilities of the Hitachi HD63484 Advanced CRT Controller on the ACRTC Board.

 
The compiled programs here run from the EmuCON command prompt.
To launch EmuCON type: EM<CR> at the SYS> prompt.
 
Hardware Requirements
Mega 68000 or 68030 Computer System with 1x free expansion slot
Standard VGA monitor
* Plug the ACRTC-2 Board into the expansion slot
* Connect the VGA monitor to the ACRTC-2 Boards DE-15 interface
 
Software Requirements

System ROM V2.05 or later

 
ACRTC-2 - Graphics Demo1

The demo below draws random coloured lines, rectangles, circles, and dots.

 
1. Download:
 
graphics_demo1_v1.00.zip  
2. Using Windows extract all the files to a temp folder
3. Copy demo1.tos to the EmuTOS Compact Flash disk C
4. On the Mega-680x0 type: demo1 at the EmuCON C:\> command prompt
  The program will run
 
ACRTC-2 - Graphics Demo2
The demo below draws a simple spiral pattern in the center of the screen.
 
1. Download:
 
graphics_demo2_v1.00.zip  
2. Using Windows extract all the files to a temp folder
3. Copy demo2.tos to the EmuTOS Compact Flash disk C
4. On the Mega-680x0 type: demo2 at the EmuCON C:\> command prompt
  The program will run
 
ACRTC-2 - Graphics Demo3

In September 1982 an article appeared in ANALOG Computing Issue 7 featuring a graphics program known as the Archimedes Spiral. This classic 80's program is well known for the ‘hat’ image it produces. ACRTC Demo3 faithfully reproduces that 1982 image in the center of the ACRTC screen.

 
 
1. Download:

4. On the Mega-680x0 type: demo3 at the EmuCON C:\> command prompt

ACRTC-2 - Graphics Demo4

The demo below draws a Barnsley fern in the center of the screen. This computer generated image is a well known fractal named after the british mathematician Michael Barnsley.

2. Using Windows extract all the files to a temp folder
3. Copy demo4.tos to the EmuTOS Compact Flash disk C
4. On the Mega-680x0 type: demo4 at the EmuCON C:\> command prompt
  The program will run

The demo below draws a set of colour bars. Use the ESC key to quit the program.
 
1. Download:

2. Using Windows extract all the files to a temp folder
3. Copy demo5.tos to the EmuTOS Compact Flash disk C
4. On the Mega-680x0 type: demo5 at the EmuCON C:\> command prompt
  The program will run

The demo below draws a set of grey scale bars. Use the ESC key to quit the program.
 
1. Download:
 
graphics_demo6_v1.00.zip  
2. Using Windows extract all the files to a temp folder
3. Copy demo6.tos to the EmuTOS Compact Flash disk C
4. On the Mega-680x0 type: demo6 at the EmuCON C:\> command prompt
