The Memory-2 Board

The Memory-2 Board uses two Generic Array Logic devices (GAL's) to significantly reduce the chip count.

IC2 is a GAL22V10D
IC4 is a GAL16V8D

These parts are electrically erasable programmable logic devices.

The very popular and inexpensive TL866A MiniPro Programmer was used here to program the above parts. Before attempting to program the GAL's with a TL866A check the following ...

App Software Ver: 6.85
Firmware Ver: 03.2.86

... and upgrade if necessary before proceeding.

Programming IC2

There are currently four versions of firmware for IC2 - gal8.jed, gal8b.jed, gal8c.jed, and gal8d.jed

When the Memory-2 Board is the 1st or only memory board in the system and is fitted with a standard 27C4096 ROM use gal8.jed firmware for IC2.

When the Memory-2 Board is the 1st or only memory board in the system and is fitted with a 27C322 ROM ADAPTER use gal8d.jed firmware for IC2.

When installing a 2nd Memory-2 Board use gal8b.jed firmware for IC2 on the 2nd board.

When installing a 3rd Memory-2 Board use gal8c.jed firmware for IC2 on the 3rd board.

1. Download the required file:
  gal8.jed
  gal8b.jed
  gal8c.jed
  gal8d.jed
2. Launch the TL866A's Application Software (MiniPro Programmer)
3. Using the 'Select IC' button set the device type to LATTICE GAL22V10D
4. Goto Open(O) from the File(F) menu and browse in the downloaded .jed file
5. Goto Program(P) from the Device(D) menu
6. Insert a GAL22V10D part in the TL866A's ZIF socket
7. Click the 'Program' button
  'Programming Successful!' appears
8. Click the 'Cancel' button
9. Remove the programmed GAL22V10D

Programming IC4
